NCEOC is the central hub for information and resources around employee ownership in North Carolina.
About us
We’re on a mission to preserve and protect the job and community impacts of small and medium-sized businesses throughout the state of North Carolina by helping to transition many to employee ownership. The North Carolina Employee Ownership Center (NCEOC) serves as the central hub for employee-owned businesses in North Carolina. Its primary mission is to educate business owners and their advisors (lawyers, bankers, accountants, wealth advisors) on the benefits of employee ownership via Employees Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs), worker cooperatives, and Employee Ownership Trusts (EOTs). NCEOC provides resources, case studies, and articles, and a list of service providers who can assist with employee ownership transitions. NCEOC serves the entire state of North Carolina, with a particular focus on outreach to minority-owned businesses. - Our Values - A commitment to equity and inclusion. Our bylaws include a specific commitment to serving minority-owned businesses and businesses with 50% or greater employees of color. Serving the entire state of North Carolina. We have board representation from the east to the west of North Carolina and serve both urban and rural communities throughout the state. Focus on closing wealth gaps. Our passion for employee ownership stems from a desire to build and retain wealth for low-income workers and workers of color and to empower workers at all levels. Walk the talk. We contract and purchase from employee-owned and minority- and woman-owned companies and seek to partner with like-minded organizations.

Join us in celebrating Gale Marett Salem Fabrication Technologies Group, Inc this #womenshistorymonth. Gale is the CFO of Salem Fabrication Technologies Group, Inc., a 100% employee-owned company. Read Gale's story below: I have lived almost all my life in NC, growing up on Carolina Beach, living in Winston Salem for almost 30 years, and now back in Wilmington looking forward to retirement in a few years. I am married, and have four children and two grandchildren. In the late 1980s, I worked in Wilmington for Worsley Companies, as the Retail Accounting Manager of their Scotchman (convenient) Stores division. I also worked for a stevedore at the State Port where we hired longshoremen to load and unload the ships that came into port. When we moved to Winston Salem for my husband’s job in 1994, I started working as the Business Office Manager for Salem Fabrication Technologies Group Inc. (Salem), a wholesale distributor of equipment and supplies for the glass fabrication industry, celebrating its 90th year anniversary. With the support of Salem’s management, I worked hard, gained additional responsibilities, and now serve as the CFO. My team handles all the accounting, IT, and HR functions of the company. I have a BS in Accounting and have been certified as a Professional in Human Resources. Salem is a 100% employee-owned company (ESOP), which adds a dynamic to the environment that many employees never get to experience. As an ESOP, employee-owners share in the success (and failures) of the organization. They also have the responsibility to do everything they can to make the company successful. I was fortunate to work for Salem with executive managers who saw potential, encouraged professional growth, and rewarded hard work. And now sitting on the Executive Operating Team, I am paying it forward as we strive to promote capable, hard-working, and trustworthy individuals to embrace more responsibilities.
