In April, Crossnore’s Vice President of Programs, Meredith Martin, and Regional Director of External Relations, Lila Riley, attended the Family Champion Awards at The Duke Endowment in Charlotte, NC. The theme for this year's event was “Honoring Family Champions in Stories and Spoken Word.” We are incredibly grateful to the Institute For Family at Children's Home Society of North Carolina for sponsoring this event to honor social workers, family champions, and advocates that go the extra mile to support their communities and support family well-being for all.

When a Crossnore staff member found herself with a flat tire, the cards appeared to be stacked against her. Suddenly, a foster parent texted her and she recalled the family being mechanically inclined. She asked the foster dad if he would be willing to help and within 10 minutes he graciously grabbed his tools and was there. The staff member could not have been more grateful! It goes to show that while our staff tries to be there for our families, our families go out of their way to support our staff as well.
